Jen Holt
(Biology)
I attended the University of Minnesota at Morris from 1991-1995, to prepare for medical school and to learn as much as I could in multiple areas. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English, and minoring in Biology and Chemistry. I put myself through college by working as a Resident Assistant and Residence Director. I put off medical school for a while, as my new husband started seminary, then put it off for good as God led me to stay home with the family He would give us. Five children and seven years of homeschooling later, I'm so thankful for the path on which the Lord has led my family and I. He was preparing me for things I could have never foreseen. My fascination with science remains strong and I remember relishing the times when I "had" to read Jane Austen, John Keats, George Herbert, and William Shakespeare as "requirements"! I'd never had so much fun doing my homework! I greatly look forward to the adventure of exploring the power, beauty order and creativity of God with the students of WEST!
Debbie Stenzel
(CLEP Classes) (General Science)
Debbie Stenzel earned her B.S. degree in Education from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities and currently holds a secondary teaching license from the State of Minnesota. She has taught secondary level classes in the St. Paul public school district and has served as a substitute teacher for her local public school district. Her desire to help students succeed is evident by her role as a math tutor at Anoka Technical College Adult Basic Education and her involvement in high school level teaching in homeschool co-op settings. Economics, Apologia Sciences, all levels of math through Algebra 2, as well as U.S. History, World History, Intro to Computers, American Government and Geography are just some of the subjects she has taught.
In addition, Debbie has a passion for helping students earn college credit via alternative routes thus opening doors to their future that would be closed if they traveled by the traditional route. She has led several successful CLEP prep study groups that have assisted students in earning college credit for their high school coursework as well as helped her own children earn college credit while still in high school through CLEP and PSEO. Consulting with other families and sharing what she has learned to assist them in negotiating the path to a college degree utilizing credit by exam (primarily CLEP & DSST testing), PSEO, high school planning and transcripting, college placement testing, degree planning, and more provides Debbie with great satisfaction.
Debbie seeks to encourage and guide all of her students to reach their full potential and takes great pleasure when students exceed their own expectations through their educational accomplishments. She knows that, for her personally, serving the Lord includes helping her students reach their full academic potential so they can be prepared for whatever doors the Lord opens for them in their future. Debbie and her husband Paul have homeschooled their own five children through high school and college while owning and operating a landscape/nursery business in the Nowthen area.
Linda Williams
(Physical Science) (Chemistry)
It is my pleasure to teach physical science. I like science and students. It is exciting to work with the minds of the future. I have previously taught polymer chemistry to high school students and was Chair of the 3M Science Training Encouragement Program, which was designed to introduce students to science and technology in industrial settings. In industry, I worked as a Research Chemist and Process Engineer for 3M and IBM. I hold six patents in thermal dye technology. I have a B.S. in Biochemistry and a M.S. in Macromolecular Science and Engineering from The University of Michigan. Continuing education includes graduate coursework in polymer chemistry ,engineering, polymer processing and industrial chemistry. I have taught mathematics at The University of Michigan and The University of St. Thomas and have most recently tutored in analytical geometry and algebra.
Linda is currently home raising her children and now tutoring at WEST.
